Western Region Report

Members and spouses of the Western Region of NLAS met in Billings, MT. August 6th and 7th for its Forum. Wednesday afternnon included a tour of Pompey's Pillar, site of the signature of Wm Clark of the Lewis and Clark Expedition (1806). That evening scouts, scouters and clergy were invited to an introduction to the religour award programs. This was followed by an ice cream social. On Thursday attendees visited various site in the area and after dinner had the Region business meeting. the opening devotion was given by Judi Miller, NLAS prsident. Tal Johnson Regional chairman reported on the state of the Western Region with aopproximately 85 members and three local associations. The results of the mail ballot was reported with Armand Lohof being elected Western Region Chairman and Curt Eldem as Chairman Elect. These officers were installed by President Judi Miller with Tal standing in for Curt who was unable to attend.

Suggestions for NLAS officers for the 2004 - 2006 term of office were taken. Erik Paulson, NLAS membership chairman reported on the membership in the various regions as well as the states in the Western Region. (Montana is coming up on that list.)

Two resolutions were made to be brought to the NLAS Executive Board meeting in Octorber. They had to do with the NLAS investigating the youth ministry aspects of the Lutheran Churches in Mission for Christ and asking that the Regional Chairman's job description to be changed to call for contact with eahc local association chairman and with each new member in the region.

After the meeting was adjourned we used Holden Vespers for worship with Judi Miller providing a brief message the reminded us that we are disciples of christ and our ministry is to tell the Jesus story in our lives.
